The controversial and outspoken property dealer, famous for his arrogance and brash style, is well ahead in the polls ahead of March 1 which will see Republican voters in 11 states vote on who should be their party’s candidate. Trump, who has called for a complete ban on Muslim migration and travel to the US, has already won in three out of the four states which have already voted, and if he wins on Tuesday, his candidacy will be almost unassailable. The other Republican candidates have taken notice, especially arch-conservative Ted Cruz and moderate Marco Rubio (polling second and third respectively), who went all out to attack Trump during the final televised debate last night. “If he hadn’t inherited $200m, you know where Donald Trump would be? Selling watches in Manhattan,” Rubio shot at his opponent during the CNN debate. Aside from promising to ban Muslims from the US, Trump has also pledged to build a wall along the US-Mexican border to keep out immigrants, send American ground troops to Syria to take on ISIS, and introduce huge tax cuts.  Each primary race is run by state governments and voting is done by secret ballot and they earn delegates for the winning candidates who then vote for them at party conventions in July in which the final candidates are formally confirmed. After each party has chosen a candidate, the nation will vote on who becomes the next president on November 8 this year.
