Five Ways to Make 2016 the Most Productive Year Ever

FOLLOW OUR CIRCLE ON GOOGLE+ AS gnosis bookstoreltd   for more encouraging tips ON THE RIGHT KEYS TO SUCCESS.

If you’re feeling you’ve let yourself down in the past because you haven’t kept up with your resolutions, don’t fret. Here are five ways to make this the most productive year ever – without a single New Year’s resolution. Instead, I’ll help you create a framework for your year so that you can maximize your potential.

1. Theme your months. One clever way to ensure that you can start the year you want any time you want is to apply a theme to each month of the year. By aligning that month with your specific project or goal, and making it the focal point, you are more likely to put in the time and effort necessary to make significant progress .
Theming your months will take you a lot further than trying to keep a single resolution. It will help you broaden your horizons and grow in multiple areas of your life. That kind of growth and evolution is what makes a year truly productive.
2. Capture thoughts relentlessly. You can’t keep everything in your head and still be productive; trying to do so is futile. Your mind is meant to be a factory…not a warehouse.
You should spend at least two weeks capturing and tracking your daily tasks on an hourly basis, or as often as you can through each day. It’s a challenging habit to adopt, but once you’ve spent some time doing it, you can then begin the selective process of curating those tasks.
3. Curate your to-do list. Curating your to do-list involves reprioritizing, reordering, expanding, and eliminating tasks so that you spend your time getting the right things done instead of simply being busy just for the sake of appearing to be productive.
I like to categorize my tasks in three columns: need to do, ought to do, and want to do. Ultimately you want as little in that middle column as possible so that you can get to the things you really want to do. So be honest and either move those “ought to” items to the first or third column or ditch them altogether. When you do that you give yourself the luxury of being able to accomplish more of the things that matter to you.
4. Embrace mode-based work. Most of us work almost exclusively by project or by simply going down a checklist. That’s not going to maximize your productivity over the long haul. Instead, attach the mode you need to be in for every task on your to-do list. That way you can take care of all of your phone calls across your to-do list when you’re in “Phone Mode” or be able to view all of the tasks that will take five minutes or less by viewing only things tagged with “Five-Minute Mode.”
Nearly every digital task-management application allows for this kind of tagging – and you can even do this on paper by writing down the mode you need to be in next for every task on your list. If you want to achieve a state of flow – defined as “the mental state of operation in which a person performing an activity is fully immersed in a feeling of energized focus, full involvement, and enjoyment in the process of the activity” then you’ll want to spend more time in mode-based work .
5. Keep a journal. Why should you keep a journal? Well, other than giving you a place to look back and reflect and chronicle the events in your life, there’s one essential benefit to your productivity: Journalling is like a brain dump at the end of the day.
The beginning of a new year is a time to recharge, reflect and refocus. Journalling can really help you with that and, in turn, help you plot out a more productive year in the process.
If you put just one of these ways to practice in the new year, your productivity will increase. The more you adopt, the better your year will be. Make all five part of your personal productivity process starting today and you are bound to have your most productive year ever.

8 Features The iPad Air 3 Needs To Have

The iPad Air 3 needs to deliver

There’s no doubt about it, the iPad is having a tough time lately. Its most recent year over year quarterly sales were down a staggering 25%. To be fair, however, that’s not just iPad sales. All tablet sales have been tanking. It turns out that, unlike smartphones, most people don’t feel the need to upgrade a tablet every year despite speed and feature improvements.
Perhaps that's why Apple hasn’t updated the iPad Air in over a year. The company gave the Air time off in 2015 to instead unveil the iPad Pro, which estimates peg at over 2 million sales to date. But rumors have it that Apple is holding a special launch event in March where we will see the introduction of the 4-inch iPhone 5se, new Apple Watch bands (ugh), and yes, the iPad Air 3. No one knows for sure what features the iPad Air 3 will have, but here is our advice if Apple wants to put flagging sales on an upwards trend.

Thinner body

When it comes to iPhones, most people don't want a thinner device because that usually means you need to sacrifice battery size and life. However, the iPad Air has a much larger surface area, which means it can hold much larger batteries. That means the thinner Apple can make it, the better. Currently the iPad Air 2 sits at 6.1mm thin. Shave a millimeter or more off that and we’re talking a truly impressive device worth buying.

Smart Connector

The iPad Pro introduced the Smart Connector, a new port that allows advanced accessories to be plugged into the iPad, such as Apple’s Smart Keyboard. We’re really hoping the iPad Air 3 gets the Smart Connector treatment. Seeing smarter keyboards for use on the iPad Air would be a godsend to making it a true laptop replacement.

A better camera with flash

You wouldn’t believe how many people I see walking around London taking pictures with their iPad. I myself would never do it, but hey, as the saying goes the best camera is the one you have with you. Right now the iPad Air 2 features a respectable 8MP rear camera and a paltry 1.2MP front camera. Boost the front to 5MP for FaceTime calls and the rear to 12MP and slap on a flash and now you’re talking. Plus, give the iPad Air 3 the ability to take Live Photos and we’ve got a reason to upgrade.

A less obvious cellular antenna

The iPad Air comes in two main models: Wi-Fi and Cellular. The cellular model has an ugly plastic backplate at the top of the rear case so its 3G and 4G antennas can get a signal. Rumors have it Apple is doing away with the rear antenna bands on the iPhone 7. Lets hope we get a preview of that with the iPad Air 3.

Apple Pencil support

Another thing the iPad Pro has is the Apple Pencil–Apple’s stylus that has gotten rave reviews from graphic designers and artists. But the Pencil is only limited to the iPad Pro for now. We’re really hoping the iPad Air 3 gets Pencil support because sometimes you don’t need a 12.1-inch canvas to get your art out; a 9.7-inch one works great too.

Rose Gold color option

I don't care if you don’t think it’s a manly color, the Rose Gold color option on the iPhone 6s is the most kick ass, bold color choice Apple has ever made. It’s light pink huge is the most stylish of all the iPhone colors out there. Let’s hope Apple brings this color over to the iPad Air 3.

A9X chip

The iPad Air introduced an all new A9X chipset that puts other A-series chips to shame. The A9X chipset is Apple’s third-generation 64-bit chip that is a staggering 22x faster than the first iPad. Apple isn’t shy about advertising how fast this chip is either. On its site it boasts “The A9X, our third-generation chip with 64‑bit desktop‑class architecture, gives iPad Pro the power to easily take on tasks that were once reserved for workstations and PCs. And tasks you’d never consider doing on a PC.”
It is because of the A9X that the iPad Pro will be able to edit up to three streams of 4K video simultaneously–something many laptops would struggle to do. Pack that chip into the iPad Air 3 and you’ve got us very interested.

32GB base storage, minimum

Apple needs to drop the 16GB entry level storage option. Sure, that’s enough for someone who only uses the iPad to browse the web, but the moment you start taking a lot of pictures, video, or downloading a lot of games that storage gets used up right quick. A base model 32GB iPad Air would make the device a no-brainer for a lot of people.
But those are just our suggestions. Tell us what you want the iPad Air 3 to have in the comments below.

Four Tips for How to Become More Consistent

Being consistent is how we make progress in achieving our goals and having the life we want. Sometimes being consistent can be difficult because we know we want to make progress but have no clue how to set goals and hold ourselves accountable. These 4 tips will start you on your way to setting and achieving any goal you desire.

1. Set Expectations

Before you can be consistent and make progress you first have to know what you want. Setting expectations will help you stay on track and remind you why you started on your journey in the first place. Telling yourself you expect you will do it will help when those negative thoughts and opportunities to fall off the wagon appear. Counteract those negatives with five positive affirmations each time. Reminding yourself what you will do to stay on track will push you through those tough spots.

2. Make a Conscious Decision

You have made a conscious decision to work towards a goal, so you need to make the decision to be consistent. This doesn’t mean you have to do a ton of stuff every day just to reach your goal, but you need to work on it frequently. The key here is figuring out how that thing you want to be consistent about makes you feel. If you want to work out consistently how does that work out make you feel? Understanding your emotions towards it will help you stay focused and show up to that thing on a regular basis.

3. Accountability

Now that you know what you want to show up for and how it makes you feel, it’s time to make a plan. Most of the time we have goals we want to accomplish, and those goals require us being consistent and working on them more often than not. Writing down your goals and breaking down your goal into smaller attainable goals will help you form a plan to stay dedicated and consistent in your efforts. Short and fast goals will help you gain momentum to reach that desired end result, no matter what the long-term goal is.
Another way to stay accountable is to have a partner in crime. This is someone who will hold you to it when you aren’t feeling energized or into the goal. It could be a friend, significant other, or family member. You can help each other find motivation and by working on a goal with someone else it means you have to show up for more than just yourself.

4. Missing Days & Being Perfect

Consistency means working towards a goal more days than not, but it doesn’t mean perfection. It’s okay to miss a day. We are human and we are imperfect, so don’t expect your progress to be perfect. I set my workout goal for 7 days a week because I really want to get 5 days a week and I know I’m not perfect. I won’t work out 7 days a week every week or even any week, but I try to work out more days than I miss. Remember that consistency is key so if you have a bad day, just try again the next day. If you slip just get back on track when you can, don’t see it as a total failure. Progress is up and down, so remember that you won’t always have great days and make tons of progress.

iPad Air 3 will reportedly feature Smart Connector for accessories, no 3D Touch

The Smart Connector port allows iPad users to connect iPad-optimized accessories like Apple's Smart Keyboard and Logitech's Create keyboard.
The iPad Air 3 won't feature 3D Touch like found on the iPhone 6s, according to 9to5mac, but will come in around the size of the iPad Air 2. Furthermore, the camera is expected to be improved thanks to a rear-facing LED flash like on Apple's line of smartphones.
Apple is expected to unveil the iPad Air 3 at its rumored media event on March 15. Alongside the new tablet, Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 5se in only space gray, gold, and silver (no hot pink like rumored) and a Space Black Apple Watch with a Milanese Loop, new Sport Band colors, and line of NATO-style nylon straps.

The next version of the iPad, likely to be called the iPad Air 3, will feature Smart Connector functionality like found on the iPad Pro released in November 2015, according to 9to5mac.

Want to Be Successful? Do These 7 Things in Your Spare Time

Did you know startups fail about four times as often as they succeed? Do you know why it’s so hard to get a successful business off the ground? It’s attributable to a number of factors, one of which could be the way the founders are spending their spare time.
The productivity you can generate in your free time often carries over into the success of your professional endeavors, and you can bet that successful people use their free time for much more than relaxing on the couch or binging on Netflix.
If you’re struggling to find success as an entrepreneur, you might want to take a closer look at how you spend your time away from the office. Consider replacing some of your less productive habits with ones with better benefits:
1. Exercise
Working out is good for both the body and the mind. According to various studies, people who exercise 30 minutes a day, five times a week, enjoy better overall brain health, including uplift in mood, reduced stress, increased creativity and clearer thinking. Exercise is the best thing you can do to stay alert and alive while you run your business.
2. Hobbies
Have you ever noticed that some of the most successful people you know also lead rather interesting lifestyles outside of work? That comes largely from the personal pastimes they choose to enjoy. Hobbies are a good outlet for stress and an excellent source of creativity.
3. Learning
Success often means fostering a love of learning. If you want to inspire a love of learning inside yourself, learn something new. Some people like to learn languages; others like to keep up with the latest technological investments. Most learn something that will be useful to them in their careers, such as IT basics. A strong atmosphere of learning new things can help increase personal and business productivity by 37 percent.
With online tutorials, web-based informational courses and apps that offer assistance with just a few taps, you don’t have an excuse not to learn something new.
4. Mindfulness
There’s a reason yoga has become one of the most popular health practices today: Mindfulness can help you relax, improve productivity, facilitate creativity and maintain your general overall well-being.
It’s important to note that practicing mindfulness does not necessarily mean doing yoga or even meditating, though both of those practices will do the job. It could simply mean sitting in stillness for 20 minutes twice a day, or leaning back in your chair, staring up at the ceiling and forgetting the world for 10 minutes.
5. Service
If you’re losing sight of perspective and what matters to you most, take an opportunity to serve the less fortunate. Giving back to your community helps you to think about things besides work, which may enable you to evaluate how to improve your business. It’s the best way to put your life into perspective and reduce the stress that comes from constantly focusing on your own problems.
6. Reading
The best way to stay up to date with the activities of prosperous individuals is to read. Whether you’re keeping up on the latest news, studying a business-oriented self-help book or reading the biography of a successful person you admire, reading can help boost your creativity, improve your thought processes at work and enable you to de-stress after a long day.
7. Family
Take a break every now and then to devote your entire attention to those you love most. For just a few hours a week, stop thinking about the things that happen at work and enjoy what’s going on at home. Healthy, happy and profitable people understand that taking a break with their loved ones keeps them sane as they climb the ladder of success.

3 Ways to Get Strong Wi-Fi, Even In Your Basement or Backyard

Sadly, we're not yet living in an age of ubiquitous high-speed Wi-Fi access—there are still internet black spots hiding in distant basement corners and the edges of the yard where it can be difficult to get on Facebook let alone Netflix.
Take heart though, because solutions are available. If there's a problem with weak Wi-Fi somewhere on your property, here are three fixes you can try depending on your budget, DIY know-how and needs.

Wire up some ethernet

It's the opposite of Wi-Fi but bear with me for a minute. Wired access—despite its inconvenience — remains the best way of getting online. It's faster than Wi-Fi, it doesn't get confused by microwaves and baby monitors, and if you can get an Ethernet cable down to your basement or out into your backyard then you should go for it. It's the most reliable option.
This will probably need a little DIY expertise and indeed some weatherproofing if you're heading outside. You can use a PVC conduit or outdoor cable that can survive being buried for your backyard. For the basement, you're probably going to have to drill a hole or two and use wall clips to keep the cable neat and tidy.
With your cable ready and the path cleared, you run one end from your internet router and plug the other end into your laptop (or smart box or whatever). If your laptop or desktop doesn't have an Ethernet port, adapters are usually available.
But if you need Wi-fi—either for freedom, or for a mobile device—turn the other end of the cable into a Wi-Fi hotspot: All you need for this is a standard router (it's a good use for a router you no longer use) configured as a wireless access point or some kind of standalone access point device.
Taking the cabled route may seem like more time and effort than it's worth, but it's not expensive in cash terms and you get a much better quality internet connection out of it. Plus, there's less chance of your neighbors being able to hop on your network.
Still, it depends on your needs. If you want to hook up a smart TV with an Ethernet port down in the basement, it's perfect; if you want to browse the web on your smartphone at the end of the garden, you'll need to set up the hotspot.

Get a Wi-Fi repeater

Repeaters (or boosters) are the most popular way of stretching out a Wi-Fi network at home. As the name suggests, they take your internet access and pass it on to a wider area, like connecting ripples in a pond. The problem is, those ripples get weaker the further they go.
Still, they've very convenient, and many of them take just seconds to set up. Some simply plug into a wall outlet while others are as big as your main router, but you shouldn't need any IT degrees to understand how to set one up. Just read the instructions.
As we've mentioned, signal strength can be an issue, particularly if the repeater is a long way from the original router. Bear in mind that you might not be able to stream HD videos depending on the depth of your basement or the length of your backyard. Most repeaters can duplicate the original signals, so you don't have the issue of switching from one network to another as you move.
Most of the major manufacturers have repeater kit available: TP-Link, Netgear, D-Link and the rest, and it's worth going for a well-known brand name to make sure you get the reliability and support you're going to need.
Because the position of your router can make such a difference, consider moving your router  to a more central location in your home before trying to repeat its signal. If the router supports it, there's also the option of upgrading its antenna to boost the source signal. In fact, an antenna upgrade alone may be enough to remove any dead spots you have on your property.
You may also see boxes labelled as extenders, which do a repeater's job but usually create a new network name at the same time. Manufacturers and retailers don't always use the correct terms, so make sure you know what you're getting when making a purchase.

Get a powerline kit

Installing powerline kit in your house is essentially a cross between the two solutions we've already mentioned. It extends your original network but uses an existing wired network, namely the electrical wiring in your home.
In theory, you run a cable from your router to one outlet, and plug in another adapter somewhere else in your house to take a wired or wireless connection there too. Obviously this will work best for the basement scenario, but it can also be useful for the backyard if there's a socket near the door or window.
A wide range of kits are available, so at the business end of the powerline network you can set up a wired connection or wireless access point as required. The only downsides are it's relatively expensive and its effectiveness depends on the wiring in your home. It may not perform satisfactorily in homes with older setups.
Bear in mind that power strips and surge protectors usually interfere with powerline hardware, and you will of course be taking up an outlet, unless you buy one of the adapters with AC pass-through.
If you're able to find devices that work in your home (hang on to the receipt just in case) then powerline networking can be a straightforward and reliable solution to extending Wi-Fi into dead zones. If there's an outlet in your backyard or garden shed then so much the better.
Again, try and go with a well-known brand when out shopping, though it doesn't necessarily have to match your router. Setting the system up usually only takes a few moments and you typically have to download and install some software on a computer to get everything working correctly.
By using one of these methods—or maybe by combining more than one—you should be able to get decent Wi-Fi wherever you need it.

Einstein's most incredible prediction may be proven right on February 11 — or a wild rumor debunked

A 'major' event?

Gravitational waves may have been detected for the first time, but we won't know for sure until February 11, 2016 — when scientists will either confirm or dispel the rumors, sources close to the matter tell Tech Insider.
Detection of gravitational waves would be unprecedented. Whoever finds them is also likely to pick up a Nobel prize, since the phenomenon would confirm one of the last pieces of Albert Einstein's famous 1915 theory of general relativity.
Confirming they exist would tell us we're still on the right track to understanding how the universe works. Failing to find them after all these years might suggest we need to revisit our best explanation for gravity or rethink our most sensitive experiments, or that we simply haven't looked long enough.

Columbia University in New York City is hosting a "major" event the morning of Thursday February 11, 2016, a source who is close to the matter, but asked not to be named, told Tech Insider.
Another source also confirmed the event but downplayed the significance of the event as anything "major."
Regardless, several physicists and astronomers with expertise in gravitational wave science are scheduled to attend.
The topic? The latest data from the Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave Observatory (LIGO), a $1 billion experiment that has searched for signs of the phenomenon since 2002.
LIGO has two L-shaped detectors that are run and monitored by a collaboration of more than 1,000 researchers from 15 nations, and Marka is one of them.
Marka said that he and his colleagues have worked in the field for more than 15 years and that "these are very exciting and busy times for all of us."
He also said that Advanced LIGO, an upgrade that went online in September 2015, finished a period of hunting for gravitational waves on January 12, 2016. (That was one day after we saw the first alluring rumors of detection.)
But speaking on the phone with Tech Insider, Marka, along with his Columbia and LIGO physicist colleagues Imre Bartos and Zsuzsanna Marka, would neither confirm nor deny any information — either the Columbia event or related rumors. "We are prohibited" from doing so, the researchers said.
Thursday's LIGO-related event at Columbia wouldn't seem so unusual if it weren't for rumors of a LIGO-related study that's supposed to be published online the same day (February 11) by Nature — one of the foremost scientific journals in the world.
The Nature study rumor comes from a "Woohoo!" email that Cliff Burgess, a physicist at McMaster University and the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics (both in Canada), sent to his academic colleagues last week.
Burgess thinks a student of his probably shared a screenshot of the email to Twitter, which Adrian Cho at Science Magazine reported on. (Burgess confirmed with Tech Insider that the email definitely came from him.)

If Burgess' sources are correct, then LIGO has detected gravitational waves traveling at the speed of light — and that they came from two black holes, each about 30 times the mass of the sun, colliding deep in space.
"If this is true, then you have 90% odds that it will win the Nobel Prize in Physics this year," Burgess told Science. "It's off-the-scale huge."

But it's not over until it's over

When we told Burgess about the upcoming Columbia event, he said that was "very interesting" but seemed uncertain if the rumors he sent by email days before were still true.
"Whatever it is, it sounds like they are going to describe something," Burgess told Tech Insider. "It seems they've done a lot of checks and it's going to be important."
What could "important" mean? Anything from confirmation of gravitational wave detection to the fact that LIGO failed to find anything significant during its latest run — and might offer some corrections to our understanding of the physics of gravity and spacetime.
The rumors make it tempting to believe that LIGO made history and detected the gravitational waves of two colliding black holes, but a collaborator who asked not to be named said you can only hope this is true.
The reason: Leaders of the LIGO experiment sometimes inject fake gravitational wave data into the system to see if everyone is paying close enough attention.
Only after collaborators report the event does anyone reveal the ruse.
"You have no idea until then if the signal is astrophysical [from space] or fake," our source told us, noting that, in the past, LIGO collaborators had gone so far as to pop champagne bottles, write a study, and submit it to a journal before they found out the signal was actually just a test.
Tech Insider was also warned that a lot of the rumors circulating are patently wrong and "laughable," but our source would not elaborate further.

Both LIGO instruments are L-shaped arrays of lasers and mirrors that should be able to detect gravitational waves.
Szabi Marka compared them to a pair of giant ears that can "hear" the spacetime ripples that result from black hole mergers, or some other catastrophic event in space.
The closer a collision is to Earth, the "louder" the signal should be.
LIGO's hearing is sensitive enough to detect mind-blowingly small disturbances of space, "much smaller than the size of the atoms the detector is built of," he said.
PhD Comics says LIGO's level of sensitivity is "like being able to tell that a stick 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 meters long has shrunk by 5mm."
Put another way, detecting a gravitational wave is like noticing the Milky Way — which is about 100,000 light-years wide — has stretched or shrunk by the width of a pencil eraser.
It would be no wonder why it has taken researchers so long to find gravitational waves; it's terribly difficult work. (Even a truck driving on a nearby road can disturb LIGO, despite the instruments having state-of-the-art vibration-dampening equipment.)
It would also be no wonder why scientists might try to stay tight-lipped about the discovery yet "suck at keeping secrets just like everyone else," as Jennifer Ouellette wrote at Gizmodo.
But at this point, there's only one way to know for sure if the latest rumors are true: Wait until Thursday.
LIGO spokesperson Gaby Gonzalez responded to Tech Insider's query but would not confirm our deny any of the rumors.
Tech Insider also reached out to Nature and Columbia University for comment but didn't hear back from them in time for publication. We'll update this post if and when we do.

Jose Mourinho's first interview since sacking hints at Chelsea problems, Manchester United future

Other than appearances in support of presidential candidates, both in his home country of Portugal (the candidate he endorsed, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa won the elections a couple weeks ago) and in England to back UEFA secretary general Gianni Infantino in his candidacy for FIFA president, Jose Mourinho has stayed out of the public spotlight since his sacking by Chelsea a couple months ago.  While he remained prominent in our minds and the media rumor mill as the next Manchester United manager, Mourinho had not granted any actual interviews ... until now!
Though as GQ's lucky reporter Jason Barlow points out, expecting Jose to reveal anything specific about his future or his recent past in this interview would be a silly exercise in frustration and heavy silences.  But that won't prevent us from reading between the lines.  And also admiring this interesting new Jaguar crossover that he's apparently promoting.  Hello there, good-looking.

So, onto the football.
"At this moment I don't have a job, and I don't know where football will take me, because in football you never know. But for sure for sure for sure, as a family, our home will still be England, our home will be in London. But obviously I am ready to move. As a professional, I am ready to move, especially because football in London for me, in terms of clubs... I think it is clear that I have to move."
Oof, that's a heavy ellipsis there after "London club"...  We can probably rule out a third go-around with Chelsea, certainly for now, and possibly for ever.  But it's not like we don't all already know the worst kept secret currently in football, that he will go up to Manchester.  Close enough for family, far enough away for business.
But what about the start of the season?  Any clues as to what he thinks may have gone so wrong at Chelsea?
"But really, football is not pressure for me - it is a privilege. I cope because it's easy to cope with something you like very, very much. That is why sometimes I don't understand when players don't enjoy their professional life. This is the kind of job were you are very well-paid, but at the same time you live the dreams you had as a kid. I think a 90-minute match is more pressure for the people that love us, the people outside. It's why I sometimes have some conflicts with people who don't share the same philosophy. You are in a sport to compete, you want to win, you hate to lose, you win once, so you want to win twice... When you are tired you can go home, and give up your place to someone else."
We're reminded of his "serial winners" comments back in the fall, trying to challenge the team and shake the players out of their stupor.  And of course our ominous pre-season that included not only fake results but fake transfers, both of which turned out to have a far more telling effect on the rest of our season that we had feared at the time.
"It depends. I always think you need new challenges, but there are different ways of getting new challenges. For example, if you are in a club that wins, if you want to win again you have to create instability in the winners. And to create instability in the winners you have to make them doubt, you have to buy new players, you have to make them feel not in their comfort zone. There is a normal tendency to go to your comfort zone. If you don't react, if you believe that just because you won in one year that you are going to win again, it's very difficult."
On thing is clear, Jose's ready and itching to get back into the football, ready to continue learning, ready to continue striving for perfection.
"No, I am not enjoying it. I can have everything I love at the same time. I can have my family, I can have my friends, I can have my quiet life, which I also like, and I can have my football... I can have everything together and I don't need to give up on one of them. To be fully happy I need everything, so I go back to football. I think it's my natural habitat. I have worked since I can remember, and as a manager since 2000. I stopped when I left Chelsea in 2007, for a few months, and now is the second time I stop in 15 or 16 years, so it is not a drama. But for sure, I will be back soon."

With Guardiola at City and Mourinho and United, plus Klopp at Liverpool, the epicenter of English football looks ready to shift back up north.  Chelsea will have to double down and fly not only the Blue flag, but the London flag high again.

11 things that can cause cancer

A man in a tanning bed
A decade ago, a doctor who was asking about my health habits told me I should cut my two daily cups of coffee to one. Coffee was, at that time, still on the "bad" list. These days, I think it's on the "good" list or at least the "neutral" list. So it goes with eggs, wine and other products that are considered good for you one moment, and bad the next.
In October 2015, the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) compiled a comprehensive "bad" list of its own: 116 substances and activities that are known to cause cancer. (Note that red meat didn't make the list; it's only a possible carcinogen at this point.)
While the list includes exposures, mixtures and agents that you probably won't be exposed to — unless you're a chimney sweeper, painter or cabinet maker — the list also includes things we can all take precautions against. In case you were still unclear on any of these, here are the top 11 substances that can cause cancer:
1. Tobacco smoke. Smoking the leaves of the tobacco plant through a cigarette, cigar, pipe or hookah pipe causes cancer.
2. Sunlamps and sunbed tanning. Tanning equipment emits UV radiation that overexposes you and causes skin cancer, cataracts and premature aging.
3. Secondhand smoke. A non-smoker's risk of getting lung cancer can increase by a quarter simply from breathing in other people's smoke. It also can increase your risk of cancers of the larynx and pharynx. Your pets won't like it, either.
4. Alcohol. Alcoholic beverage consumption is a known cause of breast, colorectal, larynx, liver, esophagus, oral cavity and pharynx cancers, and the IARC labels it a probable cause for pancreatic cancer.
5. Smokeless tobacco products. Chewing smokeless tobacco products causes cancers specific to the larynx and the mouth.
6. Processed meats. Meat that is cured for preservation or taste like bacon, sausage and ham is as dangerous a carcinogen as tobacco, according to the World Health Organization. Processed meat is linked to bowel cancer.
7. UV rays. Yes, the sun can cause cancer.
8. Contraceptives. Both combined forms (those that contain both estrogen and progesterone) as well as sequential oral forms of hormonal contraceptives (a period of estrogen followed by a period of progesterone and estrogen) were ranked as cancer-causing by the AIRC. Breast, cervical and liver cancer risk may be increased. Endometrial and ovarian cancers may be decreased.
9. Estrogen therapy (post-menopausal). Women who take estrogen and progestin were more likely to be diagnosed with breast cancer.
10. Outdoor air pollution. It can lead to lung cancer and an increased risk of bladder cancer.
11. Salted fish (Chinese style). Diets high in salt-cured meats and fish, or pickled foods that are typical in Asian diets, can increase the risk of nasopharyngeal cancer, in the upper throat behind the nose.
A few more specific risks with regard to chemicals, disease and occupational hazards include arsenic that ends up in drinking water from alloy manufacturing; the leather dust, benzene and solvents in boot and shoe manufacturing; iron and steel founding; magenta dye manufacturing; roofing with coal tar; manufacturing rubber; diesel exhaust; soots; asbestos; hepatitis C; the human papillomavirus; and tamoxifen.

Leopard wanders south Indian school, injures 3 before caught

BANGALORE, India — A leopard wandered into a school in southern India and injured three people as it tried to escape, officials said.
Onlookers including TV news crews watched the chase, which lasted several hours until forest workers shot the big cat with a tranquilizer dart on Sunday afternoon, according to Press Trust of India news agency.
The agency quoted school officials as saying the leopard was first seen on closed-circuit TV before dawn inside the private Vibgyor School in Bangalore, and then disappeared into some surrounding bushes.
The big cat later scaled a wall to re-enter the school grounds. It attacked and injured three people including a veterinarian and a man who was trying to climb over a gate to get away, the agency reported. Police said the three are being treated in a hospital.

Wall Street was deep in the red on Monday, as technology stocks extended a selloff from Friday and U.S. crude oil slipped below $30 per barrel, sending investors scurrying for cover to safe-haven assets.
The technology-heavy Nasdaq Composite fell 2 percent to its lowest since October 2014, weighed down by Microsoft (MSFT.O) and Facebook (FB.O), while the Dow Jones industrial average shed more than 300 points.
"Equities are in a 'go-nowhere-fast' mode, with a downward bias in the near term," said Terry Sandven, chief equity strategist at U.S. Bank Wealth Management in Minneapolis.
"We need oil to stabilize to provide some confidence for investors, partly because to a degree, investors' stress is high, earnings visibility is low, and market internals continue to weaken," he said.
U.S. crude oil prices fell 2.6 percent after a meeting between Saudi Arabia and Venezuela failed to reassure investors of measures to bolster prices. [O/R]
Chesapeake Energy (CHK.N) was the latest casualty of lower energy prices, tumbling 35 percent to $2 after sources told Reuters that the beleaguered natural gas company had hired restructuring lawyers.
Demand for crude is considered a barometer for global economic health, and markets across the world have tracked the rise and fall in the price of the commodity this year.
At 10:28 a.m. ET the Dow Jones industrial average .DJI was down 337.01 points, or 2.08 percent, at 15,867.96.
The S&P 500 .SPX was down 39.97 points, or 2.13 percent, at 1,840.08.
The Nasdaq Composite index .IXIC was down 112.53 points, or 2.58 percent, at 4,250.61.
Gold XAU= prices rose to their highest since June and the yield on 30-year U.S. treasuries hit their lowest since April.
All 10 major S&P sectors were lower, with the 2.8 percent fall in energy stocks .SPNY leading the decliners.
Microsoft's (MSFT.O) 3.1 percent decline to $48.61 also dragged down the S&P 500. Facebook (FB.O) and Amazon (AMZN.O) were off about 3 percent, while Alphabet (GOOGL.O) dropped 1.6 percent.
Dismal sales outlooks from marquee technology names Tableau Software had sent shares in the enterprise sector crashing on Friday on fears that IT managers were curbing spending.
IT services provider Cognizant on Monday added to those worries. Cognizant (CTSH.O) dropped 6 percent to $55 after it forecast its slowest revenue growth in 14 years.
Tableau (DATA.N), which almost halved in value on Friday, was down 4.8 percent at $39.35.
Twitter (TWTR.N) shed 5.4 percent to hit a new record low of $14.87 after reports over the weekend that the company was planning to change how it display tweets.
Declining issues outnumbered advancing ones on the NYSE by 2,656 to 301. On the Nasdaq, 2,195 issues fell and 347 advanced.
The S&P 500 index showed 5 new 52-week highs and 67 new lows, while the Nasdaq recorded 2 new highs and 331 new lows.

THE NEW FAST SPREADING VIRUS "ZIKA"_3100 pregnant Colombian women 'have Zika'

3100 pregnant Colombian women 'have Zika'
More than 3100 pregnant Colombian women are infected with the mosquito-borne Zika virus, President Juan Manuel Santos says, as the disease continues its rapid spread across the Americas.
The virus has been linked to the devastating birth defect microcephaly, which prevents fetus' brains from developing properly. There is no vaccine or treatment.
There are so far no recorded cases of Zika-linked microcephaly in Colombia, Santos said on Saturday.
There are 25,645 people infected with the disease in Colombia, Santos said during a TV broadcast with health officials, among them 3177 pregnant women.

More pulled out alive after Taiwan quake

More pulled out alive after Taiwan quake
Rescuers have pulled more survivors from a collapsed apartment tower in Taiwan and are still searching for about 120 others believed trapped in rubble a day after a strong earthquake shook the island.
Those found alive include a 20-year-old identified by Taiwan media as Huang Kuang-wei and another man in his 20s surnamed Kuo, who was able to walk out of the wreckage, supported by rescuers. Both were sent to hospital.
Firefighters, police, soldiers and volunteers combed through the ruins on Sunday, some using their hands, watched anxiously by dozens of the victims' family members who wore thick jackets, woollen hats and scarves to combat the winter chill.
Medical staff with empty gurneys waited nearby.
"She's not answering my phone calls ... I am trying to hold my emotions and stay strong. I'll do that until I find her," said a woman surnamed Chang, 42, waiting to hear from her 24-year-old daughter who lived on the fifth floor.
At least 26 people are known to have died in the quake, which struck about 4am on Saturday, at the beginning of a Lunar New Year holiday, with most found in the collapsed Wei-guan Golden Dragon Building in the southern city of Tainan.
About 120 people are still beneath the rubble of the commercial-residential block, with most trapped deep in the wreckage, the government said.
Bodies continue to be found, including those of two sisters, aged 18 and 23, Taiwanese media reported.
The building's lower floors pancaked on top of each other in the 6.4 magnitude quake and then the whole structure toppled, raising immediate questions about the quality of materials and workmanship used in its construction in the 1990s.
President Ma Ying-jeou is scheduled to visit the disaster zone on Monday, the first day of the Lunar New Year.
Tainan Mayor William Lai told reporters about 120 people are believed still missing in the debris, with efforts focusing on 30 who are closest to the rescuers and lighter equipment like drills being used.
The extent of damage to the Golden Dragon Building has raised questions.
Liu Shih-chung, Tainan city government deputy secretary general, said television footage of its ruins suggested the possibility of structural problems related to poor-quality reinforced steel and cement.
However, city officials have said it is too early to say for certain if poor construction was a factor in the collapse.
Authorities said the building had 96 apartments and 256 registered residents, though more people were inside when it collapsed

What's the Difference between the Unsuccessful and the Super Successful?

Embedded image permalink
Matt Moore in Australia writes, “You’ve spent a lot of time hanging out with successful people. Did you ever look for unsuccessful people who followed your 8 traits and did not become Bill Gates, etc.?”
Good question, Matt. In addition to spending a lot of time hanging out with successful people, I also interviewed some unsuccessful people, in order to get a point of comparison. Some were homeless men and women and others were people I met who had not achieved success, no matter how you measure it. Their responses indicated they didn’t follow any of the 8 success principles. They were doing jobs they didn’t like; they didn’t work hard, had no focus, sat back in their comfort zones instead of pushing themselves, and didn’t try to improve. They were only out to help themselves rather than serve others, and they tended to give up rather than persist. So, there was a high correlation between not doing the 8 Traits and not achieving success.
On the other hand, with the successful people I interviewed there was a high correlation between following the 8 principles and achieving success. Did all the people who followed those principles reach Bill Gates kind of success? No, everything is a matter of degrees, including success. In any endeavor, we can achieve: 1. Small success. 2. Moderate success. 3. Big success. 4. Super success. And be careful not to look down on those who achieve small or moderate success. Big success is built on a foundation of small successes and we need to pass through 1 and 2 before we reach 3 or 4. As Bill Gates says, “We took one step at a time and made the software better and better.”
So, if successful people follow the 8 Traits, what differentiates the ones who achieve super success from those who achieve moderate success? Again, it’s a question of degree. The Gates and Oprahs of the world not only do the 8 Traits, they do them to a greater degree than other people. They love what they do more than most people. They work more hours (even after he was a multimillionaire, Bill Gates worked most nights until 10pm and only took 2 weeks off in 7 years). The super successful focus more, push themselves more, come up with more ideas, improve more, serve others more, and persist more. They do the 8 to a greater degree, and that correlates to a greater degree of success. By the way, this applies to success in any endeavor, from the mother who succeeds big time at creating a family, to the CEO who succeeds big time at creating a company.
You may think, “I’m doing all those 8 things, so how come I’m not super successful?” Well, how long have you been at it? Remember, there’s no overnight success. We need to apply the 8 principles and PERSIST for a long time before achieving any success, let alone BIG success. As EDS founder H. Ross Perot once said, “Most people give up just when they’re about to achieve success. They quit on the one-yard line. They give up at the last minute of the game, one foot from a winning touchdown.” So, if you’re doing everything right, but haven’t succeeded yet, hang in there and persist.
One last point: Forget about achieving “BIG” success, or comparing yourself to the Gates and Oprahs of the world. It just drains energy away from doing the 8 things that really will get you there. Legendary basketball coach John Wooden said, “Don’t compare yourself to somebody else, especially materially. If I’m worrying about the other guy and what he’s doing, and what he’s making, about all the attention he’s getting, I’m not going to be able to do what I’m capable of doing.” So keep your head down, focus on doing the 8 Traits, and build a trail of small achievements. That’s the path to big success.

Survivors pulled out from Taiwan building

Survivors pulled out from Taiwan building
At least four people, including an eight-year-old girl, have been rescued from a high-rise Taiwanese apartment building toppled by a powerful quake two days earlier, as frustration grew among families waiting for searchers to reach their buried loved ones.
More than 100 people are believed to still be under the debris in a disaster that struck during the most important family holiday in the Chinese calendar, the Lunar New Year.
Saturday's quake killed at least 38 people in Tainan city in southern Taiwan, all but two of them in the collapse of the 17-storey building. Even though the 6.4-magnitude quake was shallow, few buildings were reported to have been damaged, which experts said was because Taiwan's building standards are high.
Authorities have managed to rescue more than 170 people - the vast majority in the immediate hours after the quake - from the folded building using information about the building layout and the possible location of those trapped.
Five survivors were believed to have been pulled out on Sunday, and at least four on Monday. One of them, Tsao Wei-ling, called out "Here I am" as rescuers dug through to find her, Taiwan's Eastern Broadcasting Corp reported.
She was found under the body of her husband, who had shielded her from a collapsed beam, the government-run Central News Agency reported. Tsao's husband and two-year-old son were found dead, and five other members of the family remained unaccounted for, it said.
Teams also rescued on Monday a 42-year-old man from the building, and, later, an eight-year-old girl, who had been trapped for more than 61 hours.
Mayor Lai Ching-Te told reporters he briefly exchanged words with the girl, Lin Su-chin.
"She is awake, but looks dehydrated, lost some temperature but she's awake and her blood pressure is OK," he said. "I asked her if there's anything wrong with her body. She shook her head."
Shortly afterward, rescue workers also pulled out a 28-year-old Vietnamese woman, identified as Chen Mei-jih, who had been trapped on what was the building's fifth floor.
Family members of the missing flooded into the information centre in search of their loved ones or to wait anxiously.
Tensions rose as some relatives, losing patience, demanded to speak to rescue workers directly to get the latest information.
A couple sitting in a small room where officials release information said they had heard no news about their son and his family, including their young grandsons.
"Does that mean we are here to wait for bodies?" grandfather Liu Meng-hsun cried out angrily.
Outside, a woman stood at the edge of the rubble shouting, "Your grandma is here!" Rescuers had detected life within the area where the 16th-floor apartment of her son and his family was thought to be, and were said to have heard the sound of a child.
Her son, surnamed Wu, got out of the building soon after the quake, but his wife and their four-year-old girl remained trapped, according to volunteers assisting the family.
Earthquakes rattle Taiwan frequently. Most are minor and cause little or no damage, though a magnitude-7.6 quake in central Taiwan in 1999 killed more than 2300 people.
The spectacular fall of the high-rise, built in 1989, raised questions about whether its construction had been shoddy. The government says it will investigate whether the developer cut corners.
Huang Jia-rui, a structural engineer in Tainan, said Taiwan's buildings aren't as quake-proof as Japan's, which is a leader in engineering quake-proof structures, but the island is catching up.
