9 Visualization Techniques that Work Every Time

I used visualization techniques frequently when I first became interested in the art of hoopdance. I would spend a significant amount of time watching performances of advanced hoopdancers. I would then visualize myself performing the same dance sequences. I did this just as often as I practiced.
Eventually, I would just be playing around with my hoop and my body would spontaneously do the exact same sequences when I was in a “flow” state, without having to consciously think about it. My visualizations became a reality.
Visualization techniques are frequently used by dancers, leaders, artists, entrepreneurs and athletes alike to improve their performance. The subconscious mind cannot tell the difference between fantasy and reality. Such techniques will help train our minds to believe what we want to be true is already true, thus helping us manifest our dreams into reality.
If you’re a first time visualizer, try these visualization strategies to help you achieve success.

1. Use all 5 Senses in Your Visualization

Despite its name, visualization should include more than just your eyesight. Imagine with all of your senses that what you dream is a reality. See the image in your minds eye, hear the sounds, taste it, smell it, and feel it in your body.

2. Get Dramatic and Act Out Your Visualization

Be playful and use your imagination. Role-play is a great technique for kinesthetic learners. Acting out your visualization will help you feel in your body that your dreams are already a reality.
If it helps, have a partner act with you. For example, if you are trying to manifest a raise, have a partner pretend to be your boss. The two of you can act out the discussion and he can tell you that will be getting a raise for all of your hard work.

3. Use Props

Props are a great way to trick the unconscious mind into believing something is reality.
Actor Jim Carrey grew up in a poor family and would often dream of being an actor. He took his visualizations seriously and would imagine directors coming up to him and offering him acting jobs.
Jim is famous for using props in his visualizations. He once wrote himself a check for 10 million dollars, dated it a few years in advance, and wrote, “for acting services rendered” in the memo line. Just a few months before the check date, he received 10 million dollars for his role in Dumb & Dumber.
Be creative when using props. But, make them seem as realistic as possible. For example, if you are trying to manifest getting out of debt, write a letter to yourself from your finance company stating that your debt has been eliminated and put it in your mailbox for you to receive.

4. Meditate Immediately Prior to Visualization

Meditation will put you in a relaxed open state, which allows your visualization to penetrate you on a deeper level. Relaxing the mind will help silence your mind and clear out any negative thoughts, beliefs, fears, and doubts that will hold you back from achieving your goals.

5. Visualize Several Times a Day

The more you visualize, the better. Use moments of down time to practice short 2-3 minute visualizations.

6. Write Your Visualizations Down

Write your visualizations down using descriptive language. The memory system responds well to the written word and this will reinforce the ideas in your mind, particularly if you have an auditory learning style.

7. Create a Vision Board

A vision board will make your visualization tangible. Use photographs, magazine cutouts, and other items to create a vision board of your goal. Look at it frequently to remind you of that which you hope to accomplish.

8. Be Within Your Own Limits

If you think something is beyond your limits, then it will be. If you are used to living on a low income, don’t immediately try to visualize earning one million dollars, because most likely it will appear to you as beyond your limits and you will feel too much doubt.
For best results, start out visualizing that which is believable to you. Once you start seeing results, then you may find that you are able to stretch your limits even further after seeing the true creative power you hold in your life.

9. Be Proactive

Jim Carrey once stated on the Oprah Show, “Visualization works if you work hard. That’s the thing. You can’t just visualize and then go make a sandwich”\

Kim Kardashian, Kanye West Divorce Rumors Swirl After Rapper's Apparent Meltdown

Once again, rumors are swirling that America's most high-profile celebrity couples may be on the rocks. Reality TV-star Kim Kardashian West and rapper Kanye West have been a couple since 2012, and married in Italy in 2014. They have two children together, daughter North West and son Saint West.

Kimye's relationship has always been the subject of plenty of gossip and speculation, but after a series of high-profile Twitter meltdowns and the painfully long and convoluted roll-out of Kanye's new album The Life of Pablo, West's erratic behavior has gossip mags speculating that the two are on the path to splitsville.

So far though, there doesn't seem to be anything amiss in the Kardashian-West home. Speaking about her home life to Glamour last June, Kardashian West said, "North has taught me patience. There's nothing I wouldn't do for her. And nothing I wouldn't do for my husband. She's empowered us to want to be the best parents and the best spouses.

Apple to introduce new iPhone and iPad at March 21 media event

Apple’s rumored media event, where the company will introduce a new iPhone SE, a smaller version of the iPad Pro and minor Apple Watch enhancements, has been pushed back to the week of March 21, according to a report from Re/Code.
Adding more specificity into the mix, Buzzfeed’s John Paczkowski subsequently added that the upcoming media event will take place on Monday, March 21, likely at Apple’s Town Hall in Cupertino.
While initial reports claimed that Apple’s anticipated media event was going to take place during the week of March 15, the festivities have shifted forward a week for reasons that aren’t entirely clear.
As Kara Swisher notes, “it is not clear if the event was moved or if this was the timing Apple had always planned.”
The main attraction at the media event will of course be Apple’s long-rumored 4-inch iPhone, a device we recently learned will likely be called the iPhone SE. While initial reports pointed to the device being a souped up version of the iPhone 5s, it now appears that the device will effectively be an iPhone 6s with a smaller screen. Equipped with an A9 processor, an M9 motion coprocessor, an NFC chip, support for Live Photos, a 12 megapixel camera and more, the iPhone SE may be a sleeper hit for Apple during what would ordinarily be a somewhat uneventful second quarter.
Additionally, Apple at the upcoming event will also introduce a 9.7-inch version of its iPad Pro, which is to say the device will come with Apple Pencil and smart keyboard support. And last, and perhaps least, Apple on March 21 will likely introduce some new bands for the Apple Watch as well.

Oprah just lost $27 million on Weight Watchers

Oprah Winfrey may have shed some pounds using Weight Watchers. But she may have lost something else -- influence. And money.

Shares of Weight Watchers (WTW) plunged nearly 30% Friday after the diet company reported a surprise $11 million quarterly loss.
The company's sales fell and, most alarmingly, so did the number of Weight Watchers subscribers and attendance at meetings.
Shares of Weight Watchers surged in October after Oprah announced she was taking a 10% stake in the company, joining its board and becoming a member as well.
The hope was that Oprah's blessing would lead to a surge in new subscribers. Expectations grew after Oprah said in an ad for the company that she lost 26 pounds -- even while still eating bread every day.
But since Oprah first got involved with Weight Watchers, the stock price has fluctuated more wildly than the weight of a person on a fad diet. (Grapefruit, anyone?)
Related: Weight Watchers stock soared following one Oprah tweet
The stock is now down 50% this year and is trading nearly 60% below the peak Oprah mania price it hit in November.
The value of Oprah's stake in Weight Watchers fell by more than $27 million on Friday alone. But don't shed any tears for her. Oprah is still sitting on about a $30 million profit since October. And she is continuing to eat bread after all.
It's possible that it will just take more time before Oprah is able to convince the millions of subscribers to her magazine and viewers of her OWN cable network to take the plunge and sign up for Weight Watchers.
CEO James Chambers told analysts during the company's conference call Thursday that he thought the marketing campaign with Oprah was off to a good start and that this is just the beginning of her involvement with the company.
"We're just scratching the surface of the potential engagement opportunities between members and Oprah," he said. "Behind the scenes, Oprah is equally as involved as a board member and adviser."
But the company's latest results may be a sign that not even Oprah's considerable celebrity star power is enough to offset its challenges. To that end, Weight Watchers issued earnings guidance for 2016 that was below forecasts.
The company has tough competition from the likes of Nutrisystem (NTRI) and Jenny Craig.
Maybe nostalgic Gen X-ers are flocking to Jenny Craig? Kirstie Alley is now appearing in ads for Jenny Craig, along with fellow Cheers alums George Wendt (Norm!) and John Ratzenberger. The weight loss company where everyone knows your name?
Related: Oprah may not save Weight Watchers after all
Weight Watchers also has to contend with the proliferation of free smartphone apps that give people diet tips and track weight loss.
It's hard to compete with free. Oprah, who famously gave out cars to the entire studio audience of her talk show in 2004, should know that firsthand. ("You get a free Weight Watchers membership! YOU get a free Weight Watchers membership!")
And maybe, just maybe, this notion that Americans are trying to get into shape is just a big myth.
CNBC's Carl Quintanilla pointed out in a tweet Friday morning that shares of Weight Watchers and activity tracker Fitbit (FIT) have both plunged this month due to disappointing outlooks. Meanwhile, Domino's (DPZ) is surging.

Goal Setting: How to Say ‘No’ to Others to Say ‘Yes’ to Your Goals

Most of us don’t have oodles of spare time idly waiting to be put to good use. So finding time to focus on your goals will likely involve some hard choices about what to prioritise.
Of all the things you need to do today, “you should be asking yourself which ones are going to make a real difference and which can go on the backburner,” says clinical and health psychologist Dr Bob Montgomery.
“A really important part of sticking to your goals is sticking to the ones that are really going to make a difference and not giving into the ones that might be easy or appealing or entertaining, but aren’t going to do as much good.”
That often means turning down tasks, activities and demands from others - a challenge many of us find difficult.
It’s a skill Kirra Rankin had to learn when she decided to re-evaluate her life and start prioritising the things that were important after a bout of illness several years ago.

Dr Bob’s top 3 tips for saying ‘no’

  1. Refuse the request clearly, non‐defensively and promptly;
  2. If you want time to think about a request, say so;
  3. Keep eye contact and speak clearly and audibly.
The exercise physiologist, who has several businesses and a child under one, said she is now very comfortable saying “no”.
“It’s easy for you to say ‘no’ if you have a structure and you know where you are headed,” she said.
“You need to step back… so you have a bit of clarity and some time and space and so you can see ‘is this the right path I am taking?’,” she said.
Not only has Ms Rankin found she is now able to give her work, health and family the attention they need, it also means she can be more generous with her time.
“I have so much more time in my life now… Those kinds of things that are helping someone or friends who need a hand… I [now] like to say ‘yes’ to those kinds of things.”

A learnt skill

But for Ms Rankin, getting to this point meant breaking the habit of being a people pleaser and initially feeling some guilt when she put things that mattered first.
“The more you say ‘no’ and the more you set yourself up for success, the easier it is to say ‘no’. It’s just so easy now, and you don’t have any guilt at all because it’s the best thing for your family and yourself.”
At the top of the list of things Ms Rankin says ‘no’ to are:
  • pointless meetings (meetings about a meeting);
  • negative people who do not enhance your life at all;
  • obligations you only commit to because you have been committed to them for a long time;
  • big social events that don’t really allow you to catch-up with anyone.
Obviously we’ll all have a different ‘no’ list (although who would say ‘yes’ to a meeting about a meeting?).
But most of us would welcome the extra time we gain by not doing things that don’t support our values or take us closer to meeting our goals.
“That’s another two hours of your day that you could be spending on something that’s actually useful or just on yourself,” Ms Rankin said.

‘It’s not selfish’

Self care is not selfish. It’s how you meet your obligations to all the people who might count on you.
Dr Bob Montgomery
One myth Dr Montgomery would like to dispel is that saying ‘no’ to others means you are selfish.
“Self care is not selfish. It’s how you meet your obligations to all the people who might count on you,” he said. “It’s not only not selfish; it’s doing the right thing by all the other people in your life.
“Every now and then you have to say ‘no’ to someone - ‘I can’t do that this week’ or ‘I can’t do that this year, I’m already booked out’. You owe it to yourself to say no to impossible or unreasonable requests.”
However, many of us struggle in large part because we’ve trained ourselves to be submissive, Dr Montgomery said.
“We confuse [saying 'yes'] with being polite. We are often frightened by how other people will react if we don’t meet their requests.”
Ms Rankin agreed you could say ‘no’ and still be polite.
Her tip was to make sure your response avoided ambiguity.
“You just have to straight up say ‘no, I can’t', ’sorry I can’t’ and that’s it. That way there is no confusing the situation, ‘no’ is ‘no’.”

Trouble in Paradise? Nicki Minaj and Meek Mill Reportedly Got Into It About Meek’s House Arrest

It’s almost that time for Meek Mill to surrender to house arrest and according to reports it’s causing some issues for Nicki Minaj. Meek expects for Nicki to ‘stay close’ and live with him during his 90 day sentence — but she doesn’t want to.

Our sources say the friction surfaced after Meek tried pressuring Nicki to stay close when he goes into lockdown for 90 days for violating his probation on drug and gun charges. We’re told Meek wanted Nicki to live with him in Philly during his house arrest.
We’re told Nicki blanched at the notion, saying she would not put her life on hold because of his criminal issues, and that triggered a big fight that is still unresolved.
Nicki’s been in L.A. this week … and it’s unclear when she’s going back to Philly.
Our sources say Nicki and Meek fight a lot, but this one’s bigger than the others.
If Meek really expected for Nicki to play house arrest with him, he’s stupid.

Rashford double helps United kids dent Arsenal’s title hopes

Marcus Rashford: Enjoys his second goal against Arsenal

Marcus Rashford: Enjoys his second goal against Arsenal

Marcus Rashford maintained his stunning start to his Manchester United career with two goals on his Premier League debut to help beat Arsenal 3-2 and deal a major blow to their dwindling title hopes.
Just three days after scoring twice against FC Midtjylland in the Europa League, the 18-year-old grabbed another double as well as setting up his side’s third for Ander Herrera.
For United fans who have grown steadily used to shocking first-half performances, Rashford’s remarkable performance will give justifiable cause for the kind of outrageous optimism that this most trying of campaigns has so sadly lacked.
The product of south Manchester’s Fletcher Moss Rangers slammed home United’s opener in the 29th minute and added a powerful header three minutes later before Danny Welbeck, yet another player from the Fletcher Moss production line, replied for Arsenal.
Marcus Rashford Manchester United v Arsenal
Rashford’s day was not done – he held the ball up superbly for Herrera to sweep home a deflected third for United – before Mesut Ozil’s effort gave the lightweight Gunners hope of a point their performance would have scarcely merited.
The relentless excitement – Ramsey and Herrera sparked a mass shoving match almost reminiscent of the storied pizza-gate era – was too much for Louis Van Gaal, who got so animated during a spat with fourth official Mike Dean that he toppled to the ground on the touchline as he tried to recreate an unpunished foul.
But the rich entertainment was no solace for Arsenal, who looked anything but title contenders, despite a bright enough start in which Welbeck exploited attractive amounts of space down his former club’s flanks, and began the move which ought to have given the Gunners the lead on eight minutes.
Welbeck played in Ozil who neat lofted pass sent Nacho Monreal through into the right side of the box, but he bustled over his shot which was blocked at point-blank range by the advancing David De Gea.
Memphis Depay zipped a low shot straight at Petr Cech in United’s first chance five minutes later, then Monreal – impressive but for his finishing – sent in a cross from which Alexis Sanchez should have done better.
Marcus Rashford scores Manchester United v Arsenal
Rashford broke the deadlock with virtually his first touch in the 29th minute, firing home a slightly deflected shot from the centre of the box after Guillermo Varela’s cross from the right was not dealt with by Gabriel.
So used to grim first-half deadlocks, Old Trafford hardly seemed to know how to celebrate such a rare ray of early optimism – and it got even brighter three minutes later.
This time Rashford summoned the sort of powerful header of which top strikers the world over would have been proud, slamming the ball past the helpless Cech from Jesse Lingard’s right-wing cross.

United’s two-goal advantage did not last long as the other product of Fletcher Moss narrowed the deficit when he out-jumped the static Morgan Schneiderlin to head home an Ozil free-kick.
The goal gave Arsene Wenger’s men hope but they were guilty of constantly squandering possession in a low-key start to the second period, Van Gaal’s men always looking more likely to extend their advantage.
Their third came in the 65th minute and Rashford was once again prominent, teasing Gabriel on the right before crossing for Herrera to sweep home, albeit with a sizeable deflection off Laurent Koscielny’s chest.
Ander Herrera Manchester United v Arsenal
Arsenal produced a determined response, pulling back to within one four minutes later after De Gea could only flap Welbeck’s effort into the path of Ozil, who bundled the ball home.
A subsequent mass pushing match following a clash between Ramsey and Herrera, and the unrelated incident which saw Van Gaal berate Dean before falling to the turf to the loud cheers of fans from both sides.
Rashford’s amazing Premier League debut came to an end 10 minutes from time when was replaced by Adnan Januzaj, a player who also scored two goals on his full United debut at Sunderland three years ago.
Januzaj’s star may have subsequently dwindled, but for now at least, there is no brighter cause for optimism at Old Trafford than Rashford, seemingly hell-bent on single-handedly rescuing his side’s season.

Welbeck flashes a snap shot wide with the first action of the game. That came in 00.45 seconds on the clock. Bright start from the Gunners.

Donald Trump reminds me of Hitler: Ex-Mexican President Fox

Story highlights

Former Mexican President Vicente Fox on Friday kept up his withering criticism of Donald Trump, saying the GOP front-runner reminds him of Adolf Hitler.
"Today, he's going to take that nation (U.S.) back to the old days of conflict, war and everything. I mean, he reminds me of Hitler. That's the way he started speaking," Fox told CNN's Anderson Cooper in a phone interview on "Anderson Cooper 360."

"He has offended Mexico, Mexicans, (and) immigrants. He has offended the Pope. He has offended the Chinese. He's offended everybody."
Fox's comments come one day after he delivered a scathing response on Trump's plan to make Mexico pay for a wall between the Mexico-U.S. border.
"I'm not going to pay for that f***ing wall," Fox said in an interview with Fusion's Jorge Ramos.
Fox told Cooper he won't apologize for that remark.
Fox isn't the first to suggest Trump's rhetoric is similar to that of the German dictator.
Last month, Anne Frank's stepsister accused Trump of "acting like another Hitler." And in December, former New Jersey Gov. Christine Todd Whitman invoked Hitler when discussing Trump's plan to temporarily ban Muslims from entering the U.S.
"If you go and look at your history and you read your history in the lead-up to the Second World War, this is the kind of rhetoric that allowed Hitler to move forward," Whitman told CNN's Alisyn Camerota on "New Day."

Your success in any situation hinges on 3 things: A Harvard psychologist

amy cuddy power posing(Flickr/Erik (HASH) Hersman) Amy Cuddy.
Harvard psychologist Amy Cuddy is perhaps best known as the creator of the "power pose."
As she described in her 2012 TED Talk, power-posing is about taking advantage of the body-mind connection: You adopt the body language of powerful people so that you feel and act more confident.
But power posing is just one path to a state of calm self-confidence that will help you succeed in challenging situations. That state, which Cuddy calls "presence," is the subject of her new book by the same name.
Cuddy defines presence as being attuned to and able to express your full potential. When you're present, you approach challenges without a sense of threat.
Whether you're interviewing for a job or pitching your startup, people can tell right away if you're present, and they judge you more positively when you are.
In an interview with Business Insider, Cuddy said there are three things people see when you're present:

1. You believe your story

When you're present, you demonstrate conviction and passion so that other people come to believe your story, too.
In the book, Cuddy describes a yet-unpublished study she conducted, in which participants went through mock interviews. For five minutes, they had to persuade the interviewer that they were the best person for the job, while being completely honest. All the while, the interviewer held a completely neutral expression.
Three independent pairs of judges watched videos of the interviews, looking for presence, believability, and hireability. Sure enough, the interviewees who were rated more present were also rated more believable and more hireable.
Cuddy writes: "Presence mattered to the judges because it signaled authenticity, believability, and genuineness; it told the judges that they could trust the person, that what they were observing was real."

2. You're confident without being arrogant

In the book, Cuddy quotes a venture capitalist describing what turns him off during an entrepreneur's pitch: "They're too high energy and aggressive, maybe a little pushy. It seems defensive, I don't expect them to have all the answers. Actually, I don't want them to have all the answers."
Being open to feedback is key, Cuddy told Business Insider. The more you shut down other people and their perspectives, the less appealing you become. That's because it can seem like you're trying to cover up a sense of uncertainty.
"A truly confident person does not require arrogance, which is nothing more than a smoke screen for insecurity," Cuddy writes. "A confident person can be present to others, hear their perspectives, and integrate those views in ways that create value for everyone."

3. Your verbal and nonverbal communication is in sync

When we're being inauthentic — or when we're intentionally deceiving someone — Cuddy said our verbal and nonverbal communication is incongruent.
In the book, she explains that's because you're constantly trying to adjust what you're saying and doing to create the impression you think others want to see.
On the other hand, when we're present, our verbal and nonverbal behavior matches. People aren't distracted trying to figure out why something feels "off," and they're more likely to put their trust in you.
Ultimately, if you're confident in yourself, other people will be more likely to be confident in you, too. It doesn't necessarily mean you'll get the job or the investor's money, but you'll walk away knowing that you did the best you could — and the right opportunity for you is out there.

Goal Progress and Happiness

PLEASE LEAVE A COMMENT!!!

Sometimes things aren’t just moving slowly. They’re not moving at all. What are the effects of lack of progress in our goal pursuit?
Procrastination does more than just undermine performance. It undermines our happiness and satisfaction with life. Why? The consensus based on the psychology of action and personal goals clearly indicates that the successful pursuit of meaningful goals plays an important role in the development and maintenance of our psychological well-being. To the extent that we’re making progress on our goals, we’re happier emotionally and more satisfied with our lives.
The research on goal pursuit and well-being reveals an interesting cycle between progress on our goals and our reports of happiness and life satisfaction (generally referred to as “subjective well-being” or SWB). The cycle looks something like this:
How this cycle works
Progress on our goals makes us feel happier and more satisfied with life (our subjective well-being, SWB, increases). Interestingly, positive emotions have the potential to motivate goal-directed behaviors and volitional processes (e.g.,self-regulation to stay on task) that are necessary for further goal progress or attainment. Very clearly you can see how if you “prime the pump” by making some progress on your goals, the resulting increase in your subjective well-being enhances further action and progress.

Ah, doesn’t this sound like a mythical perpetual-motion machine? Certainly this can’t be true. Both practical experience and research indicate that this relation between progress on our tasks and our well-being provides this sort of synergy. From experience we know, “give a job to a busy person, it will get done.” Why? Busy people are in motion. They’re making progress, feeling competent and able, so they move forward buoyed by their success and positive emotions. The research points to the same conclusion: goal progress is related to positive emotions and overall enhanced well being.
What I find particularly important is that the research literature also reveals that we experience the strongest positive emotional response when we make progress on our most difficult goals.
I use this strategically daily. I begin with my most difficult tasks. I use my simple “just get started” mantra to get my focus and some momentum, and this sets in motion a successful, and happy, day.
Don’t believe me? Sound too simple? Well, you do need to “prime the pump” a little by strategically setting manageable sub-goals within the difficult task. You have to know exactly what you’re trying to accomplish (see the previous blog on Implementation Intentions for more on this approach). And, you have to “own” the task or goal. You have to make it your own. It has to be meaningful to you.
Ah, that’s the catch. You don’t find the task meaningful, so you put it off (see the previous blog on task aversiveness for what this means). Your rationalization is that this isn’t meaningful to me, so why do it? It’s not intrinsically interesting. This is an extrinsically assigned task. It’s something I “have to” do. It’s not something that “I want to” do.
The thing is, extrinsic (external) motivation has more than one flavor. As described by Richard Ryan(link is external) & Edward Deci(link is external) in their Self-Determinination Theory, the more we internalize and identify with a goal by understanding the value behind it or even simply the importance of the task, the more likely we are to act autonomously. So, making a task your “own” doesn’t mean that you initiate or invent each task, it just means that you identify with the task at some level. Psychologists sometimes refer to this as self-congruent or self-concordant goals. In fact asBettina Wiese(link is external) (University of Zurich) summarized our understanding to date, “. . . empirical research has repeatedly shown that striving toward self-concordant goals strengthens the link between goal progress and well-being” (p. 319).
Concluding thoughts . . .
Progress on our goals leads to more positive emotions and more satisfaction with life. It increases our well being. In turn, positive emotions contribute to our motivation to act. This is a win-win situation if we can “just get started.”

Instantly Take Years Off Your Face With These 7 Tricks

Look fresh faced and fab with bold brows. (Photo: Benjamin Lozovsky/BFA/REX Shutterstock)
Growing older is inevitable, but looking older than your years isn’t. While you may be investing in anti-aging moisturizers, expensive eye creams, and dermatology treatments intended to keep you fresh faced, you may be sabotaging yourself with daily beauty habits that are adding years. Makeup artist Louanna Factora of Blushington Makeup & Beauty Lounge spoke with Yahoo Beauty about easy ways to instantly create a youthful appearance with a few simple changes.

Avoid applying foundation with your fingers

No matter how old you are, there’s nothing more distressing to your facial features than cakey foundation. Prevent foundation from setting in any wrinkles (which makes them more visible) by applying only a thin layer using a brush or a beauty blender, says Louanna. Also, keep in mind that powder foundations are the worst offenders when it comes to caking into any obvious crevices, so stick with a radiance-based, light-coverage liquid foundation.

Stay away from shimmery shadows

“Powder, matte eye shadows will lessen the appearance of lines and wrinkles on the eyes, while shimmer or any sparkle eye shadows have a tendency to enhance wrinkles,” says Louanna. Choose shadows with a satiny feel to avoid enhancing any visible crow’s-feet.

Get some color

A tan, dewy complexion will instantly hide dull skin, making you look much younger and vibrant. Fake a faux-glow with an at-home self-tanner like the Clarins Radiance-Plus Golden Glow Booster ($30) for easy application and an immediate afterglow.

Don’t use matte lipstick

Matte lipstick can be gorgeous and chic on a lot of people. However, the dry formula has the tendency to set into the cracks on lips, accentuating fine lines. So, unless your pucker is still smooth and wrinkle-free, opt for a glossier formula when applying a lip color.

Flash a bright smile

Bright white teeth are notoriously a sign of youth, so it’s important to take good care of them. We love Colgate Optic White High Impact White for its professional-level-strength whitening aspect that’s safe enough for everyday use.

Apply makeup only on hydrated skin

“Always moisturize your skin before applying any makeup,” says Louanna. “Hydrated skin will allow any makeup to look and feel smoother.” A great moisturizer to use before applying makeup is the Eve Lom TLC Cream ($80), which helps brighten mature complexions.

Thicken your brows

Eyebrows may seem like unimportant patches of hair on your face, but the shape and thickness of your brows can really make or break your entire look. The shape accentuates your face, and a thick brow is reminiscent of younger years, so be sure not to over pluck! Only remove hairs that obviously fall outside of the brow line, otherwise the sparse brows will age your face.

5 Simple Ways to Increase Your Intelligence

Your brain needs exercise just like a muscle. If you use it often and in the right ways, you will become a more skilled thinker and increase your ability to focus. But if you never use your brain, or abuse it with harmful chemicals, your ability to think and learn will deteriorate. Here are 5 simple ways anyone can squeeze a bit more productivity out of the old gray matter.
1. Minimize Television Watching - This is a hard sell. People love vegetating in front of the television, myself included more often than I’d like. The problem is watching television doesn’t use your mental capacity OR allow it to recharge. It’s like having the energy sapped out of a muscle without the health benefits of exercise.
Don’t you feel drained after a couple hours of TV? Your eyes are sore and tired from being focused on the light box for so long. You don’t even have the energy to read a book.
When you feel like relaxing, try reading a book instead. If you’re too tired, listen to some music. When you’re with your friends or family, leave the tube off and have a conversation. All of these things use your mind more than television and allow you to relax.
2. Exercise - I used to think that I’d learn more by not exercising and using the time to read a book instead. But I realized that time spent exercising always leads to greater learning because it improves productivity during the time afterwards. Using your body clears your head and creates a wave of energy. Afterwards, you feel invigorated and can concentrate more easily.
3. Read Challenging Books - Many people like to read popular suspense fiction, but generally these books aren’t mentally stimulating. If you want to improve your thinking and writing ability you should read books that make you focus. Reading a classic novel can change your view of the world and will make you think in more precise, elegant English. Don’t be afraid to look up a word if you don’t know it, and don’t be afraid of dense passages. Take your time, re-read when necessary, and you’ll soon grow accustomed to the author’s style.
Once you get used to reading challenging books, I think you’ll find that you aren’t tempted to go back to page-turners. The challenge of learning new ideas is far more exciting than any tacky suspense-thriller.
4. Early to Bed, Early to Rise - Nothing makes it harder to concentrate than sleep deprivation. You’ll be most rejuvenated if you go to bed early and don’t sleep more than 8 hours. If you stay up late and compensate by sleeping late, you’ll wake up lethargic and have trouble focusing. In my experience the early morning hours are the most tranquil and productive. Waking up early gives you more productive hours and maximizes your mental acuity all day.
If you have the opportunity, take 10-20 minute naps when you are hit with a wave of drowsiness. Anything longer will make you lethargic, but a short nap will refresh you.
5. Take Time to Reflect - Often our lives get so hectic that we become overwhelmed without even realizing it. It becomes difficult to concentrate because nagging thoughts keep interrupting. Spending some time alone in reflection gives you a chance organize your thoughts and prioritize your responsibilities. Afterwards, you’ll have a better understanding of what’s important and what isn’t. The unimportant stuff won’t bother you anymore and your mind will feel less encumbered.
I’m not saying you need to sit on the floor cross-legged and chant ‘ommm’. Anything that allows a bit of prolonged solitude will do. One of my personal favorites is taking a solitary walk. Someone famous said, “All the best ideas occur while walking.” I think he was on to something. Experiment to find the activity that works best for you.
Conclusion - I hope you aren’t disappointed that none of the techniques I’ve proposed are revolutionary. But simple, unexciting answers are often the most valid. The challenge is having the will to adhere to them. If you succeed in following these 5 tips, you’ll be rewarded with increased mental acuity and retention of knowledge.

LG Stylus 2 Is Affordable Galaxy Note 5 Alternative

If you prefer to use your smartphone with a pen, you don’t have to splurge for Samsung’s Galaxy Note 5. LG has made the mid-range Stylus 2 official. Debuting at Mobile World Congress this month and expected to hit the states later this year, LG’s latest phablet features a revamped design and a handful of new features designed to make writing and doodling feel as natural as possible.
The LG Stylus 2 is notably sleeker than its predecessor, the LG G4 Stylus, sporting 7.4-mm-thin edges and weighing just over 5 ounces. Its slick, curved edge design retains most of the G4’s core components, including LG’s unique rear-facing fingerprint reader and home button.
The phone’s Pen Pop feature aims to make using its stylus more intuitive, as it automatically pulls up a pop-up menu for accessing apps such as Pop Memo and Pop Scanner every time you pull the pen out. The Stylus 2’s Pen Keeper alerts you whenever the phone is in motion without its stylus attached, hopefully preventing you from leaving home without the pen. If you want to get fancy, the smartphone’s new Calligraphy Pen font aims to emulate the look of a traditional fountain pen.
The Stylus 2 sports decent mid-range specs, including a 5.7-inch, 720p display, a 1.2-GHz quad-core CPU, a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 8-MP selfie shooter. The Android Marshmallow device packs a 3,000-mAh removable battery, as well as a microSD slot for expanding your storage.
The LG Stylus 2 likely won’t be the centerpiece of LG’s Mobile World Congress showcase – that honor will go to the LG G5 – but it could end up being a solid (and hopefully affordable) option for stylus fans. We’ll be at the big show in Spain later this month, so stay tuned for hands-on impressions of all of the major smartphones slated to be unveiled.

Apple's next iPad will be a smaller iPad Pro, report says [Mashable] Karissa Bell Mashable

110915-ipad-pro-thumbnail-2
Apple is gearing up to debut a new smaller iPad but it won't be another iPad Air, according to a new report.
Instead, the company will show off a smaller iPad Pro during its upcoming March event, 9to5Mac reports.
The new iPad Pro "will have nearly identical features and specifications as the bigger model," the report says, including the same A9X chip in the current version of the iPad Pro. Support for Apple's Pencil stylus is "likely" and the company is also reportedly working on a smaller version of its Smart Keyboard accessory to fit the new device.
A source close to Apple also tells Mashable that the next iPad will be available in rose gold.
Apple is expected to show off its new tablet at an event next month, which previous reports have suggested will take place in on March 15. The new iPad could go on sale as early as March 18, according to 9to5Mac.
What this means for the rest of the iPad line is unclear. 9to5Mac's Mark Gurman says Apple is looking to "simplify" its tablet offerings and his sources suggest the company may be getting ready to discontinue the older iPad Mini and original iPad Air with the launch of the smaller iPad Pro.

WE ALL NEED THIS: How to Form a Good Habit

PLEASE LEAVE A COMMENT!!!
Bad habits are easy to make, but extremely hard to end. Good habits, on the other hand, tend to take more time to make. Luckily, scientists agree that the average person needs at least 3 weeks to form a good habit. For more specific means of doing this, this article should help.
  1. Know what you want. If you can perfectly visualize the habit in your head, the work will be easier.
  2. Make a list of the benefits of your new habit. For example, if you quit smoking, you are likely to become more healthy. Make a separate list of the costs, i.e., people may not view you as “cool.” Try to debunk the costs, i.e. if people really like you, they will find it as a benefit.
  3. Commit to the habit. If you want to change, you have to work at it. Do not quit if you have one failure. And don’t blame yourself for the failure either. It’s usually not your fault.
  4. Set your own goals, and reward yourself. Write the goals down, and post them all around. In your kitchen, bedroom, office, even the bathroom if necessary. Once you’ve met those goals, treat yourself to a movie or a pizza. As long as the treat isn’t anything you’re trying to quit.
  5. Start slowly. If you want to become stronger or faster, choose short exercises at first. Then, make them larger, in order to adapt to the habit.
  6. Go for consistency rather than performance. For example, if your goal is to do daily push ups, it’s better to start by doing one push up EVERY DAY for a month than by doing 20 push ups for two days and then giving up. After you have done one pushup consistently for a number of days, you have formed the habit. Now increase the number of push ups gradually from there, all the while striving to do some number of push ups EVERY day.
  7. Consult a friend. It’s what they’re there for. To comfort and help you in times of need. Ask them to keep track of your accomplishments, or act as a therapist if something goes wrong. It’s alright to do this. They should be happy to.
  8. Even after your goals are set, don’t continue to smoke, take drugs, or stop exercising. You need to make this a lifetime thing if you’re serious about it, and you can’t stop after just 3 weeks.
  9. It can be tough to muster up the motivation you need to change your lifestyle. Pick up a good habit like exercising or drop an unhealthy one like quitting smoking. Using each Monday to recommit if you fall off track; that way, you have 52 chances a year to get motivated to make a change in your life. Healthy Monday is a non-profit national public health campaign that encourages people to use Monday as the day for all things healthy.
If you’re trying to start a good habit, then you probably had a bad habit to begin with. If so, empty your house and work space of the thing you’re trying to quit, or any item that may make you want to end the habit-making process. If you want to quit smoking, get rid of cigarettes. If you want to eat healthier, get rid of most unhealthy foods in you pantry etc.
